Quality

Hanna Steel employs engineers with degrees in the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, and Material Engineering, and together they bring many years of experience to the company. Additionally, two of them are licensed as Professional Engineers. These professionals perform all of Hanna’s own testing at labs established within each of our facilities using state of the art equipment. Tensile, Charpy Impact, and Hardness Testing are performed routinely on all our various steels from our paint lines and tube mills. This is done in order to ensure that all ASTM and customer specifications are met or exceeded. Also, all mechanical testing is performed as per the latest version of ASTM A370.

Hanna Steel also operates a full metallographic facility including a calibration program traceable to NIST at each facility. Additionally, Hanna has multiple members of its engineering staff actively involved in standards development through ASTM. Hanna Steel has members on several different ASTM subcommittees, and members of our own staff have served on numerous ASTM task groups. Our engineering staff proudly maintains close ties with nationally ranked colleges and universities by assisting in their Advisory Councils and Student Senior Design projects.

Claims Policy

It is the policy of Hanna Steel Corporation to make every effort to provide our customers with steel coils and tubing products that will meet and hopefully exceed their quality and delivery requirements. As part of our commitment to our customers, every claim and complaint is carefully reviewed in order that steps may be taken to prevent its possible reoccurrence. It is crucial to our review process to have accurate information regarding the identity of the material and the severity of the non-conformity.

In the event that a defect or other issue is noted, the following information must be provided in order for a claim to be considered.

  • Customer Name
  • Description of the material
  • Hanna Steel Ticket numbers (or heat numbers for Tubing items)
  • The amount of material involved
  • A description of the defect (including actual measurements or other evidence)

Hanna Steel will make every effort to have disposition ready for each claim within 7 working days from the date that all of the data listed above is submitted. Claims may be submitted through your inside or outside salesman or directly to a quality assurance representative (please see the attached list). The specific details of our claims policy are attached for your review. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

LEED Notice

Beginning in November 2009, Hanna Steel added the LEED information as reported from our suppliers to our certifications. Not all of our suppliers will report their LEED information, so nothing can be provided in those instances. Revised copies of certifications with LEED data may be requested through your supplier (i.e. our direct customer). It is Hanna Steel's Policy not to send certifications to second and third party customers without permission from our customer.

Hanna Steel does not have any information concerning the harvest locations of the scrap used by our steel suppliers to make the steel that we purchase for conversion into tubing. If the distance from the job site to the Hanna facility that material shipped from is more than 500 miles, then the Regional Material Credit under LEED should not be claimed.
